The second trip for the Rainbow Project took place as follows. We appreciate everyone’s support.
Dates: 7-16 August 2012
Participants: 9 children from Fukushima (affected by the disaster)
Stayed at: various families in Sydney (first half) Australian Tennis Academy (second half)
The children maximised their time in Sydney with :
the Aboriginal traditional rites and music, sushi experience with an acclaimed cooking consultant Mr Dekura at a local school, camp fire in Kangaroo Valley, visit to Taronga Zoo, visit a major IT company in Chatswood, boating in Sydney Harbour, etc.
This was the first trip overseas for most of the students. They were excited with special activities that can only be done in Sydney. Local TV and Radio stations covered this trip. The children made an impression by making a clear statement about their life in Fukushima.
They had a fabulous time at the farewell party MCed by themselves with full of games and talent show. They showed much appreciation to all the people who made this trip happen.
All of them expressed their interest in studying English and studying overseas, as well as coming back to Sydney. They will miss the staff and host families in Sydney.
